Meet Sam.
I’ve had him both terms that I’ve worked, and he’s in one of the youngest classes. Today he pulled out his new hat and said,
“Teacher! Teacher! Me mom says me ‘Fashion King’!”
“Oh yes! Very handsome.” And too cool to smile for my picture. ~_~
He also frequently will laugh uncontrollably at the silliest things, all while holding his stomach and gasping for air while yelling “TEACHERRR!” in an accusatory tone. Since it was my fault for doing something dumb, which then made him crack up so much he couldn’t breathe.
On the flipside, he will cry at the drop of a hat. Kids.
I’m going to see the Hood Internet on Saturday!!! They are going to be in Daegu tomorrow, Busan on Friday, and Mansion in Hongdae on Saturday.
Check them out and go go go! The Facebook event page is here. 20,000 won if you transfer money in advance.
“Two Weeks of Hip Hop” - Dead Prez vs. Grizzly Bear
Why is everyone going on about SHINee when Se7en has a new video?!
Yes. Yes. Yes.
tell me something interesting
I feel like I’ve seen everything the internet has to offer today, since I’ve only had to teach about 2.5 hours of the 10 that I will have spent at work today. The kids have tests, so the bulk of it was my intensives class today. Which was super easy and filled with adorable tiny kids I’ve already taught before.
Anything exciting going on outside of my hagwon today?
While researching jobs and E-2 work visas tonight, I found out about Korea’s new requirements for Americans who want to teach here. Pass on this info!
Starting Sept. 1st, 2010:
You must get a copy of your university degree notarized (preferably by the univ. itself) and then get an apostille for it. No more sending in the original degree and NO transcripts required. However, it’s probably better to continue ordering a few copies of your transcripts anyway, just to be safe.
Starting Jan. 1st, 2011:
Everyone MUST get an FBI background check. It must be notarized and have an apostille from your home state too. This requires fingerprints and takes 12 weeks (or longer) to process.
**If you come to Korea with a state background check this year and your ARC is not processed before Jan. 1st, you will have to get an FBI check too.**
AND…
Teachers who are already in Korea and want to renew or extend their contracts after Jan. 1st may need to submit an FBI check too.
If you submit an FBI check, complete a 1-year contract in Korea, leave the country, and plan to come back for another year, you will not need another check as long as you return within 90 days.Check Dave’s ESL Cafe and other sites to find out more information.
Omg. Glad I won’t have to do all this. They are also now testing for marijuana (as of July 15th I think) once you get here and have to do your medical check-up.
Love this song!
Miss A - Bad Girl Good Girl
Was this video sponsored by American Apparel?
Also, unrelated: Hillary Clinton will be at the War Memorial Museum tomorrow. If I didn’t have intensives, I would go try to sneak a peek.
I just downloaded my first Bieber song. My sister would be proud. I figured it was okay since Ludacris was on it… right?!
It’s just hitting me that tonight is the last work-night that I can stay up super late. Wednesday-Friday I have intensives, which then continue through August after my week off (next week). Boo. Although, Ben will be here the first week of August, which will surely mean weeknight drinking. I’m just not cut out for working before 1pm.
